Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), created in 1911 is the largest school of engineering in Portugal, with a long tradition in teaching, and excellence in research, innovation and training activities. Its mission is to contribute to the development of science, the economy and society by promoting a higher degree of education in the areas of Science, Engineering and Technology at both undergraduate and graduate levels and by delivering highly qualified professionals in the public and private sector thus strengthening the National and European R&D effort.
IST’s scientific activities are developed in research institutes, in which working groups research specific subjects within their scientific area.
IST’s specific contributions to the MAGNETIDE project will be in the field of non-destructive testing of powder metallurgy components. IST will thus be able to advise on the detectability of flaws in these PM components and the likely effect of these flaws on the long-term durability of the components
Professor Luisa Cuitinho is the primary contact for the MAGNETIDE project, and is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
